Harry's Bar
This is the place to start your night out. Once
you enter the door, to your left is the 'quiet side' and to the right the
'loud side'. This you will understand when you get there. Friday
and Saturday nights, it's hard to get served at either side if you are
there after 8pm, so try both, if you can move! If you can't get to
the bar, don't worry, go to the back and you can walk, or fight your way
round to the other side passing the guys toilets (down stairs) and the
chicks toilet (upstairs). If it's Friday night, it's cocktail night
upstairs in the quiet side. Harry's Bar has
2 DJ's positioned in the middle, at the back of the loud side. They
usually play dance music but this can vary depending on which DJ is on.
You can get tickets to go to Kudos in Wigan on Friday and Saturday nights.
Bargain at £6 return travel and entrance. Coach leaves from
outside at 11:15pm and sets off back at 2:15am.
Specials include 2-4-1 on Cider,
Pound a pint for Lager
and 2-4-1 for Cocktails

White Bull
Second stop is the White Bull just up the main street
heading to the roundabout. This is a bit quieter in music but it
is usually packed also with more older people. It has a good atmosphere
and it is easier to talk to people.

Hero's
This is the third stop round Chorley, half way back down
Market Street. It's also opposite McDonalds if you get hungry!
This is usually loud in music so it's not very good to talk. The
music in here varys but it's usually pop music and often the DJ's get someone
up on stage to take the Micky out of them. Here's the place to be
if it's your birthday and you want to be humiliated in front of the whole
pub. It's usually very lively as people have had a few to drink by
the time they get here. There's often drinks specials varying from
50p for certain drinks and 2-4-1.

The George
This pub is at the other end of town, near the Town Hall
(the big clock). Again, there are two halves to the pub but both
are usually busy. This pub has just been done up so there's lots
of bright colours and new seating. To the left is the quieter side
where people usually stand and talk. To the right is the usually
darker side, with the DJ at the back. DJ Easy P plays good popular
dance music at weekends and towards the end of the night a bit of R 'n'
B. The best time to come here is after 9:30pm when most people move
to this end of town.

The R 'n' R Bar
(Previously the White Hart)
This pub has just been done up in lime green and purple.
To be honest I preferred it when it was dark, as it's the sort of place
you don't always want people to see you in. Now it's very bright
and has lots of pictures and people's faces all over the walls. Upstairs
used to be all the 'younger people' but now they have changed it, it's
not too busy so sometimes it's easier to get served. It's slightly
darker upstairs and this is where the DJ is if you want to put a request
in. Last orders here but don't go too early!

The Tut 'n' Shive
The Tut 'n' Shive is just next to Gala Bingo if you've
lost your way. This again ususally gets packed after about 9:30pm
and with the bar being down one side it can sometimes be hard to get to
it. There's usually a mix of ages in here ranging from teenagers
to anything up to 50. DJ Charles is on at weekends and he plays upstairs,
on the left as you walk in. He usually plays all sorts of music that
caters for all. Downstairs, there is a small bar but it can be easier
to get served if it is busy upstairs. Places to sit down and tables
to rest on down here. This is a good place for last orders as the
taxi rank is just round the corner. You can get tickets here on a
Saturday night to go to Utopia in Blackburn, return coach travel and entry
£6 (see the DJ). The coach leaves at 11:15pm from the road
down the side of the pub. Returns about 2:30am.

The Swann with
Two Knecks
This is shortened to The Swan and personally I can't stand
the place, lots of bad memories. It's down the steep, cobbled steps,
which can be lethal at the end of the night after a few drinks. This
place is usually where people meet as you can find people easily.
You can walk round in a big circle in here but the bottom half doesn't
open till about 8:30pm. It's not the sort of pub that you stay in
all night, but I suppose it's OK to meet people at the beginning of the
night and at the end of the night. |

Applejax
This is the one and only nightclub in Chorley. It
is situated near to the R 'n' R Bar and is only very small. Even
though it has been known as not the place to be it has increased in its
population of the younger generation. There's usually a lot of older
people in there, but for the last year or so there has been more teenagers
and people in their twenties. The music is sometimes really good
depending on the DJ. Most people use this place for an extra few
drinks or to tap off basically. Very often the likes of Abba and
early 80's music comes on but people just keep on dancin! Last orders
in here is 2am and they usually stop the music at around 2:30am.
Taxis usually wait at the door, otherwise you'll have to walk to the taxi
rank. |
